Description
Practice abstract
A student of the Faculty of Horticulture and Business in Rural Development and also a passionate farmer from the village of Berindu (Cluj county), Cristina Moldovan owns a farm with 17 Romanian buffaloes with her family. It manages a land of 140 hectares, of which 110 are dedicated to permanent grazing. This area dedicated to grazing is concessioned by the Berindu Animal Breeders Association and is used jointly by its 20 members, of which Cristina is also a member.
During the summer season, the animals have unrestricted access to the pasture for 24 hours a day. In order to reduce the effort related to the daily movement of the animals between the pasture and the stable, they set up a special space for milking, directly on the pasture. This innovative approach optimizes work and ensures animal welfare.
Due to the volatility of the milk price, the Moldovan family did not stop at simply raising animals and selling milk to processors. In their own household, they carry on the tradition of processing milk, transforming it with skill and passion, according to traditional methods, into high-quality cheese and cream.
Motivated by the belief in the direct connection between the producer and the consumer, they chose to distribute the products personally, without intermediaries, directly at the door of the final consumer. Family members pay special attention to quality and are involved in every stage of product distribution, bringing authenticity to the homes of those who appreciate the taste and quality of traditional products.
